Welp, I just made mashed potato for the first time and it was pretty good! More or less like the KFC ones. Ha-ha. Anyway, I never thought it was so easy peasy to do! Giler kentang! ;P
So here's the recipe peeps!
Mashed Potato
- 4 potatoes (medium size) - more or less depending how much you want to do your serving.
- butter / or mayonnaise
- milk
- salt & black pepper
1.Skin the potatoes, and simply boil them until they are soft. How to know they are done boiling? Just pick up a fork, poke, and it should go through the potatoes softly. Saya jenis tak sabar, so I actually cut a potato into 4 pieces and boil hahahah.
2. Drain the water, and smash potatoes with a fork/spoon while they are still hot or you can dump all of them into a food processor.
3. Add some butter, or mayonnaise, salt and pepper as you smash, oh well, to the consistency as you like.
4. Don't forget to add milk as well. Put it a little by little, kalau nak creamy and more softer, you can add more.
Black pepper gravy
- 1 1/2 cups of water
- 1 cube of chicken stock (I used half, yang Maggi brand tu)
- 50g onion chopped (I used half big onion)
- 50g celery (but I tak letak pun)
- 1 1/2 table spoons of butter
- 1 table spoon of flour
- 2 table spoons of oyster sauce
- few drops of soy sauce (for colouring)
- Salt and black pepper
1. Heat butter until it melts over the low heat.
2. Add in water gradually and put them to boil.
3. Add in chopped onion and celery, as well as the chicken stock, then simmer!
(This one depends, when I looked up for recipe, some discard the onion and celery after 10 minutes, some just let them be)

I actually cook this one in a pot, and then transfer the gravy into another pan before adding flour. (without onion.... and celery! of course, because I didn't put any haha)
4. Make sure you dissolve your flour with a bit of water before adding them to the gravy. Flour helps in thickening the gravy.
5. Add Oyster sauce. Also, few drops of soy sauce - enough just to give it a nice browny colour.
6. Lastly, add salt and black pepper. Note that the soy sauce and chicken stock already salty, so you would want to taste the gravy a bit before adding salt.
Walahh! You are done baby. Serve the gravy on top of the fluffy mash potatoes.
Good Luck!
