Putting up this really feels like my blog is turning into a food blog -_- but it is such a satisfactions when ever I managed to cook (good) food and took a (good) picture. /masuk bakul angkat sendiri..
Eherher. I'm busy trying out new recipes - from blogs and recipe books. I think it's good. For myself, and I'm sure my future husband going to like it ha ha ha. I'm pretty impressed with myself because I have zero baking skill, yet my cake turned out nicely and yummy /what the hell, masuk bakul angkat sendiri lagi.
So siapa kata baking susah? You don't need to have any skills to bake. Asal got recipe and oven, therr you blow!
Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting
A (dry)
- 2 1/2 cup (250 gram) of all purposed flour, sifted
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 2 tablespoon (15 gram) of cocoa powder
B (wet)
- 1/2 cup (113 gram) of unsalted butter
- 2 1/2 cup (300 gram) of caster sugar ( I always put less sugar when I baked, so, I used 200 gram)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
- 1 teaspoon of distilled white vinegar
- 1 tablespoon of red or pink food colouring
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda /bicarbonate soda
- 1 cup (240 ml) of buttermilk
* now don't need to worry if you can't find any butttermilk at the store, you can prepare this by yourself,
--> just add 1 tablespoon of distilled white vinegar or lemon juice, and leave it for 8 - 10 minutes
Method
1) Preheat over 175 degree Celcius
2) Sila ayak your dry ingredients - flour, cocoa powder and salt in one large bowl and mix them.
3) Add in your red food colouring into your buttermilk.
4) In another bowl, beat in your butter using electric mixture until they are light and fluffy, and add in caster sugar by batch. Maksudnya, jangan put in everything sekali gus, masuk sikit2, gradually, then pukul the mixture until kembang and sebati.
5) Beat in eggs, one at a time, follow by vanilla essence.
6) Gradually add in ingredient A and buttermilk into your batter. Selang-seli juseyo! masukkan tepung, then mix, masukkan buttermilk, mix lagi, masukkan balik tepung, mix .......repeat sampai habis. Jangan derhaka dekat recipe okay.
7) In a small bowl, mix your vinegar and baking soda. They will fizz (bubbles) then quickly add them into the batter, kemudian terus masukkan ke dalam loyang.
8) Bake for 25 - 30 minutes, then let it cool, put inside your fridge for 1 or 2 hours, because the cake is a bit fragile after you take it out from your oven, nanti pecah if you wish to put cheese frosting in between the cake, so tak cantik, tapi kalau tak sabar, no problem, belasah je letak topping,
Oh yeah, recipe for topping!
- 250 gram of cream cheese
- 30 gram of butter
- 100 gram of icing sugar
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla essense
- 1 tablespoon of fresh milk
- 1 tablespoon of lime / lemon juice (but I didn't put any)
* place cream cheese and butter and mix them using electric mixture, blend blend blend then add in the rest of ingredients. Mix them again. Ta-da, your cream cheese frosting are done! By the way, you can always substitute icing sugar with 3/4 cup of honey for a bit more healthy recipe! :D
