DIY | Bottled Nebula

I got inspired after watching Michelle Phan's recent DIY video and I just had to try making it myself.

Hi guys! I couldn't remember when was the last time I posted a DIY blog post but I have one for you this week. I have seen this DIY brush holder on many beauty blogs and finally decided to try it myself.

I think everyone that have Real Techniques brushes for more than 2 years might face the same problem as mine - the black rubber holder of the brush become terribly sticky to the point other brushes will stick with it. This little trick saved my brand new brushes from looking worn because of the glue.

As always, I went to Mr DIY store to look around and stumbled upon this hari raya jar, haha. The one our mums always put kacang or muruku inside. I thought this would be the perfect size to store my small brushes. RM5.50 for a glass jar, so cheap!

DIY | Japanese Decoden Phone Case

Decoden can be basically applied to anything. If you remember my posts from here and here, I already tried it on different materials and surfaces.

One fine day my brain decided to go back to the creative trail and this happened. As much as I think things like this doesn't really suits my age and personality - I'm a lady type not cray-cray or kawaii (lady lah sangat, lol), I would say, never stop yourself from being creative. Also, I've seen people around my age making an online business selling decoden phone cases and they are always so expensive (> RM100). Man, I should consider to open one, too. ;P

DIY | Giving Bokeh a Whirl?

Cis, kurang ajar, konon pro lah tu. Saya tahulah saya newbie. Kamera pun baru sahaja dibeli di Plaza Lowyat dengan menggunakan wang simpanan di tabung. Tidak sampai dua bulan usianya. Saya tidak terus patah semangat, lalu bertanyakan kembali kepada Haziq.

DIY | Twine Wrapped Bottle

Who knew you could do so many beautiful things with empty bottles. I have been saving them for this kind of inspiration. This time DIY project is using twine, which definitely gives a rustic and vintage feelings.

Honestly, I feel that this project is a little bit time consuming and you have to be patient for the wrapping to turn out neatly. I did this while I was sitting on the couch watching TV so yeah hashtag multitasking. ;P

What you'll need :

- an empty glass bottle (It could be sauce jar, wine bottle or anything you prefer)

- some twine or yarn

- hot glue gun or mod podge (I used my amazing woodcraft bond)

- scissor

I had all this in my house already so my materials cost was RM0.00.

Start from the bottom by applying hot glue to anchor the twine and allow the glue to dry completely before moving on. Keep wrapping twine around the bottle until the neck.

Push twine close to each other to ensure there is no gap in between so that they are nice, neat and tight.

Lastly trim the excess and add more hot glue to adhere the end of the twine securely to the bottle.

This go so perfectly with home decor!

Feel free to add anything you like on the inside, such as fake flowers and willow sticks. The opening of my jar is big enough to store some craft ribbons so I'll be needing the jar lid.

DIY | Washi Tape Project : Custom Phone Charger

With all in my family having our own phones, it's easy to misplace my phone charger, cables and earphone or grab someone else's. Also this is a problem when I am staying and travelling with friends especially when we have the same type of phone.

Since this is probably one of the easiest and prettiest life hack I've learned, I thought of sharing it with you guys. Hehe.

DIY | Decoden Jar Lids

A DIY experiment using different type of acrylic sealant. So I figured out diff brands will give diff finish. The recent one that I bought from Mr DIY doesn't crack after 2 days of drying period and it has silicon-looked alike.

DIY | How I decorate empty jars using silicon caulk

Remember when I bought the wrong medium for whip clay during my trip to ikea? It supposed to be silicone caulking in a tube, but I picked up acrylic sealant by mistake.

I don't want to waste it, so I decided to try it out as a whip cream.

Unlike the silicone sealant, which has a rubbery touch, acrylic sealant dries hard and it has a matte finish instead of glossy. I find it easy to work with this base since it is soft and manageable. But it still feels less soft if to compare to silicone caulk. I just used it straight from the tube and took a toothpick & pointed cotton buds to create the whipped cream look-alike.

Jars - Don't throw away your spaghetti sauce jars. Clean it and remove the label from the bottle.

Deco - Charms & sticker beads. It is difficult to find online sites that are selling cabochon charms in Malaysia. -_- I only know 1 site, http://www.beading.my/ . Or if you prefer to buy from a store, I bought mine in Daiso where you can get a set of 5 charms with RM5.

It was my first attempt working with this base and idk how not to make it crack. The whipped cream looked okay soon after I whipped it but then it cracked after I left for overnight. Acrylic base tends to break out easily when it dries, so I decided to seal my whipped cream base with mod podge glue that I bought from the same craft store.

I still think that they turned out quite good and I want to make more soon. I would want to try painting my base with some arcylic paints in my next deco-den project. \o/

DIY | Melted Crayon Art

I first saw this project online on Corrnor Franta channel and it was beautifully done. That was also how I found out his channel and subscribed! lol. Recently, when scrolling through pinterest, I came across this melted crayon DIY again so I decided to give it a shot.

It may sounds like a kid's project to some of you, but you know, this will go onto a canvas - (don't you think this is artsy enough lol), and the result really depends on your blow drying techniques. It's tricky but easy. I had fun doing this!

So, what you'll needing :

- canvas (any size you want)

- lots of crayons (depending on how big is your canvas will be)

- hair dryer

- hot glue gun

I bought my canvas and crayon in Daiso. Both for RM10. Idk where else to find a canvas here, and for crayon, it was really a try and error method. (melting point & shape, I guess?) A lot of people that did tutorials on this usually using 'Crayola' brand but it's hard to find it here in Malaysia. Crayola melts easier, faster and smoother.

Uhm! Look at what my itunes is playing! ;P

Okay project ni senang gila so all you have to do are :

1) Arrange your crayons on one side of the canvas.

Do this vertically if your canvas is small. Colours theme is sukehati but keep in mind that some colours mixing can end up with (usually) brown colour. I'd recommend a rainbow arrangement. You can leave the crayons in wrapped or take them off.

2) Stick them on canvas using hot glue gun or any type of glue you prefer as long as they doesn't fall! I used wooden craft glue and it worked just fine. Allow it for an hour for the glue to completely dry.

3) Finally, the fun part - blow drying and watch your crayons melt away.

Since I think this part takes forever lol, it also helps having musics while you are doing this.

Put your canvas at a slight angle and begin the melting.

Here's my result, tadaaa *in minion's voice*

A bit messy since I accidentally touched the crayons -_-

Aren't different crayons have different melting points? i dunnoe but I think they do. The crayons I used took 8-10 minutes per 1 section, which I set my hair dryer on high setting.

A tip here is to point your dryer downward, so the wax will run better. Kalau crayons cepat cair then use low setting instead of high. I find that gold & silver crayons didn't go well with this project. They took longer time to melt.

DIY | Decoden & Resin Bottle Caps

I have never made a Decoden creation before, but I finally did! (A quick and impromtu d.i.y)

Messy, I know. :( Can't do much since I had a hard time squeezing out silicon from the tube, and I didn't have fancy charms to decorate on). The silicon was a bit fast-drying, so it didn't help in giving the wiping cream effect. *Well, I guess we don't have DAP Silicon here in Malaysia.

But, anyway, it was fun and e a s y diy project to do. You can find the silicon tube from hardware shops nearby, like mine, I bought it from Giant, Shah Alam. And all you needs are some colourful rhinestones, gems, glitters, charms, chains, etc.

I looked up on youtube of how to do it and I found a few successful videos that helped me a lot.

Also, I have these bottle caps, buat main ceper. Haha. I turned them into these with the help of a resin glue,

DIY | Easy Decorative Storage Jar

you know, just little things that can be found around your house and they can be really helpful in creating something :D be creative.

so, this decorated jar is really easy to do and it's a great way to store anything, all you have to do is to get yourself any size/shape/type of jar, some nail polishes, stickers, ribbons or anything for decorations.
