Review | NYX Butter Lipstick

Hello beautifullll :)

If you guys are familiar with NYX, then you'll know the hype around butter lipgloss. This however, is their follow up version of it called as Butter Lipstick. I believe the range came out in January 2014, and I got mine from Sephora Limited Edition Lip Pouch (Review).

This is what NYX have to say about their Butter Lipstick.
'Pamper your lips with a hydrating kiss of smooth Butter Lipstick in 22 luxurious shades. The delicate texture of satin fused with the high colour saturation creates an even finish on lips that's long-wearing and beautiful' (source).

First up on it's packaging. The tube is colour coded in the exact same colour as the lipstick. Nothing really fancy here and in my opinion, it does look basic and cheap. The tube can catch on the lipstick, making it look horrible and messy. However, what I like about the packaging is that it makes reaching for the right shade a lot easier. We can even see the actual colour of the lipstick without having to open the lid. NYX chose to print out the ingredients and embedded them on the tube itself.

On the scent, it has a nice and subtle vanilla, cookie-ish smell. I have 2 shades with me which are 'Hot Tamale' and 'Fizzies'.

1) Hot Tamale (BLS 10) is a bold, bright orange lipstick. The pigmentation of this is beyond amazing as it is very opaque and takes only 1 swipe to cover my entire lips. From the picture below you can see the shade stays true as what it is on the tube. If you're looking for an orange lipstick that has a little hint of red in it, Hot Tamale would be for you!
As for the formulation, this doesn't sink or emphasize my flakes. I have yet to wear this outside so I couldn't give you it's longevity in details, but on swatch, the stain stays there throughout the whole day until i remove it with makeup remover. Dengan air still tak boleh hilang. ;0

NYX Butter Lipstick (Hot Tamale)

2) Meanwhile, Fizzies (BLS21) is described as rose pink. The coverage is sheer, however build-able. When applied, it almost mimicking my natural lip colour so this falls into the 'MLBB' category. I feel like Frizzies is the one that would match most eyelooks. Compare to Hot Tamale, Frizzies do settle into fine lines on my lips and makes my dry patches noticeable. Even so, this colour is in my alley and it suits my skintone nicely.

Ha, excuse my nasty looking 'Fizzies' lipstick. The stains are actually inside the transparent tube and I don't know how to clean it without having me to touch the lipstick.

Indoor Lighting, without any balms underneath.

The consistency of NYX butter lipstick is truly as the name suggest, buttery. Both lipsticks have the same formula and performance - they glide on lips very smoothly without any tugging and leave such a nice glossy finish. I'm pleasantly surprised at how creamy and moisturising the lipstick is but I have a feeling that this kind of formula won't be leaving your coffee cup or straw stained-free. Kalau pergi pantai and the wind blows strong, habis lah tudung kena stain. Get it, get it?

NYX offers 22 different shades to choose from. They can be hard to find in store since NYX is only available at our local Sephora, but a lot of instagram resellers constantly opening a spree for this range with lower prices. Whilst that, I'd definitely suggest you to pick up vibrant colours as they are in greater colour pay off. Also, I do advise you to exfoliate your lips because even though they are creamy, they can still show the dry patches. A lip liner underneath would be necessarily as the darker coloured lipstick like Hot Tamale feathers over time without it.

All in all, I quite like these, but their formulation aren't the one I always looking for when buying a lipstick. To be honest, I don't see myself wearing Hot Tamale on daily bases quite yet although the colour is gorgeous! It'd brighten up the whole face!
