Review | Purevivi Cleansing Lotion - A Bioderma Dupe?

Before discovering cleansing waters, I always used the typical bi-phase makeup remover. Specifically, Maybelline and Silky Girl makeup removers. Both wonderfully worked well except that they left an oily film on my eyes area and skin - very, very greasy. I also tried Camomile Gentle Eye Makeup Remover from The Body Shop and repurchased it but the one came from my recent haul was too harsh on my delicate eyes area and left a burning sensation, I wonder if they've changed any formula. I'm currently using Simple Kind To Eyes, and I LOVE it, let me know if you want a further review on this.

After a while, I decided to try on cleansing waters. The so-called Bioderma Sensibio H2O, FINALLY available at selected Guardian outlets and Isetan KLCC, (I purchased mine from Guardian E-Store). Bioderma has always been famous within the beauty industry and the internet. It is like the mother of makeup remover. I have used it for months now and no lie, I must say it is my holy grail makeup remover. I am in love! Suits my sensitive skin the best.
Needless to say, it is expensive. I always a bit hesitate to splurge on Bioderma because in Malaysia it retails at RM70 for 250ml, which is ridiculous considering how fast you can go through it - unless I decided to go with my #feelingspendy #sorrynotsorry feels on that particular day, I would go and bought countless bottles of it. Ha-ha.

I think I have found a pretty neat dupe for Bioderma at a much lower price. It is a brand new product in town, and there are not much reviews on it. I thought I could share one!
So, HELLO. Introducing the 4-in-1 water type Purevivi Cleansing Lotion

It is from Alovivi, a company which is dedicated to the cultivation of aloe for about 50 years. This product contains Aloe Arborescens, where they are carefully selected to ensure the most fine extractions from the leaves.

Packaging:
At one glance, I have to say it is a dupe - colourless, water like solution in a huge, transparent bottle. The cap opens easily and there is a hole on top to dispense product. I do think once need to be careful when pouring as too much solution might comes out. The product details embedded on the bottle are written in Japanese.

Formula:
A watery solution that foams up when shaken. Clears on skin and does not leave any residue after application. It is oil-free, no-alcohol, no-perfume, no-colourtant, no-parabens, and no cation & surfactant. It also contains 9 other highlighted extracts from various plants which you can see in my yellow box below. Mini science talk - it contains PEG-6 Caprylic / Capric Glycerides as an active ingredient which is a derivative from coconut fatty acids. Sodium hyaluronate appears as one of the ingredient which has an ability to bind and hold certain amount of water hence act like a moisturizer. Purevivi Cleansing Lotion has a similar smell to Bioderma Sensibio H2O : chemical-ish but the scent is light enough to not be an issue for me.

How to use?
1) Wet cotton pads with few drops of the lotion.
2) Place cotton on eye makeup, foundation, etc.
3) Wipe off gently after few seconds to remove makeup.
4) Wash face with clean water or move on to next facial skin care step.

Claims - True or False?
- Removes makeup | Partially True
- Cleansing | True
- Moisturising | True
- Soothes the Skin | True
- Leaving skin to be fresh and subtle | True
- No irritation | False
- No skin tightness | True

My thoughts:
I test it against Bioderma over 3 weeks now and I'm so pleased with the result. They are almost identical. My makeup is being removed quickly and gently, leaving my skin to feel fresh, hydrating and smoothing. However, a little of hard work need to be done with waterproof eyeliner (I'm using Kanebo KATE Super Sharp Liner- such a stubborn eyeliner to take off ;P), so it does not remove my makeup completely. This is the exact problem which I encounter with Bioderma cleansing water, too.
It claims to be formulate for sensitive skin with no irritation and skin tightness which I couldn't completely agree. Sometimes it gives me a tiny-almost-none-but-it's-still-there burning sensation around my eyelid area. So what I like to do is to use my Bioderma just to remove my eyes makeup and using Purevivi for the rest of my face areas.

- one picture is when I just lay soaked cotton pad on my eyes without pressing it and you can see how effective are both melt my Maybelline Volum'Express Rocket mascara and another picture is when I gently pressed the cotton pad onto my eyes.

Same right?
Purevivi works exactly like Bioderma in term of ability to remove makeup.

*I purchased this from SASA.

Bioderma Sensibio H2O is my holy grail, but I can see myself repurchasing this when it's empty. My regret is, I wish it comes with a smaller version so it is travel friendly. This could be worth trying out, especially when you are lucky enough not to have a sensitive skin. Not to mention the price worth is AMAZING compares to Bioderma. Also, I do wish Sasa outlet could provide a tester for Purevivi as they do have testers for other cleansing lotions. It's quite a common practice to test the product out on skin before making a purchase.

Don't you just love finding an alternative dupe of your favourite high-end product? Have you tried this Purevivi or any other micellar waters?
