Review + Collab | Makeup Revolution Salvation Velvet Lip Lacquer

Hi beauts! I'm continuing my second part of my collaboration with Rafydah who is blogging over rafydahouse. Read our part one [here] and [here]

Considering two years ago I barely own any lipstick, nowadays I keep hauling lipsticks and other lip products like there's no tomorrow. This time around, my friend and I decided to jump on the bandwagon and keeping up with the current trend of liquid lipstick. We decided to review the 'Salvation Velvet Lip Lacquer' from the brand, Makeup Revolution London.

I don't know if you have noticed it already, but within the couple of months, liquid lipsticks have taken the beauty world by storm. Everyone seems to have come out with their own version but matte liquid lipsticks or also known as lip lacquers are very trendy at the moment. Most of them tend to have crazy long-lasting staying power, super intense colour and opaque pigmentation. Salvation Velvet Lip Lacquer is my first ever matte liquid lipstick and I couldn't be more happy to own it.

Choosing a shade to review was actually pretty easy. Kami memang geng masa nak pilih 1. We both wanted a dark, vampy colour though it could not possibly suitable for everyday wear. Out of the 4 vampy shades available, we decided to go for 'Vampy Vamp' in which I'd describe it as cherry black

The packaging for this lip lacquer is just like any other lip gloss. It has a sponge tip applicator which I find it easy to apply product to all over the lips. It is not fancy; in my opinion it is like what you would expect from a cheap lip gloss. Yet, I really like how Makeup Revolution chose Rose Gold colour for the writing printed on the tube as well as for the box.

Application is easy and I find it feels comfortable on the lips. It doesn't cling onto dry patches either (Can I get a 'HORRAY' here?). l'd recommend a lip liner beforehand as it can be tricky sometimes to get the perfect lines around your lips or you can always line the edge of your lips first using a lip brush in order to get an even application. I'm not sure about other lip lacquers in this collection, but the one I have here doesn't bleed out or smudge once applies, which is surprisingly good. Another good point is that I can get a full coverage of application with just a layer!

When I apply the product onto my lips, it really dries quickly as the speed of light, haha o__o. Just kidding, but it's fast, I'd say less than a minute. As a science student, I couldn't help myself but being curious at the science behind this, lol. Like it amazed me at how the product can goes on the lips liquidly and later dries in matte formulation. Some may not be a fan to a liquid lipstick like this as it is not very moisturising and can dries out the lips a bit, but I guess a layer of lip balm underneath would help.

Above is the swatch for Velvet Vamp and as you can see the pigmentation is incredible! So vibrant and opaque. Due to it's pigmentation and long-wearing property, I find it can be hard to remove the stain but it will eventually gone after several times of rubbing. It's worth to mention that after a while this lip lacqure will eventually flakes. Bila nak remove pun flakes, how weird is that?! :0

Like always, my super talented friend from Sabah, Rafydah already uploaded a makeup tutorial using this lip lacquer. Smookey eyes look? Vampire inspired? Ha, #siscurious. So what are you waiting for?! Head over to her blog [here] to find out more. Follow her as well! Go, go! ^_^ and to Rafydah, thanks sebab ajak saya buat collaborationTERHARUNYAA. This is indeed my first collaboration with another blogger and I hope I'll do more in the future! :)

*This post was supposed to be up last week but recently Sabah was struck by a magnitude of 6.0 earthquake which gave shocks to most Malaysians since we rarely experienced incident like this. I hope Rafydah, her families and all Sabahans are safe and unharmed from this natural disaster since there are still a lot of tremors and aftershocks going on.

Wow, such pigmentation!

I had no idea that there was an earthquake. I suppose it wasn't important enough for American news outlets to write about. Definitely praying for the people of that area. Do you know of any organizations taking donations for the effected people?

This sounds wonderful! I don't know if I'd be confident enough to wear that shade, though ♥

Hi Vonnie, thank you for your concern ;__;. As far as I know, most of the funds raising right now are local oriented, but MERCY Malaysia accepted donation through credit card. Here's the link - http://bit.ly/1N0PKPo. Also, there's a campaign going on at Indiegogo.com for Robbi Sapinggi, the Mount Kinabalu Mountain Guide who lost his life while saving others. You can read his story and donate here - http://bit.ly/1FJzfRM. :)

It really is! :D I'm starting to love this brand, can't wait to try more of their products! Thanks for reading this post, Rachel! :D

Hehe, actually me too! It's so strange that while I really do like to buy bold lips products, I have no confident at all to wear them in public! xD

<3 <3 <3 thanks Melissa, very nice of you! It's indeed very unusual for my country to experience this because we are located at the non-earthquake zone, but I guess the earth is shifting in several places which makes that possible. ;~;

HORRAY! I actually love sponge tip application, I don't know why it's just always seemed to work really well for me. It's such a daring shade but I don't like the idea of it drying up in less than a minute because I HATE my lips being dry it's like my worst nightmare haha! Can I just say I love how you show us it on your hand every blog post because it shows what it actually looks like! I didn't even hear about the earthquake though. Let's hope everyone pulls through and I wish them all the best. #PrayForSabah

Anyway, I always looking forward to seeing your comments on my blog xD they made my day! So TQ!! And sorry if each of my beauty reviews are too long w/ lots of rambling. I constantly make grammar mistakes too since English isn't my primary language, lol. >_<
Also, ha, my swatches are always on hands. >w< its bc i'm shy and not comfortable enough to show my upclose face on the blog, hahah.

Yes, this is the problem with MUR liquid lipsticks, they flake! The shade is too bold for my liking.
