Review | Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil

If you have been following me for a while, you'll know that argan oil is one of my greatest skincare discoveries of all time. It's one of those products I have tried that actually made a huge difference in my skin condition. Previously, I've reviewed the one from Argana Cosmetic (read it here) and today I'll be sharing with you some thoughts on the Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil. Keep reading!

I know there are cheaper alternatives to Josie Maran brand out there but I took a risk and bought their argan oil at Sephora mainly because of 2 reasons. One- it comes in a travel size and I needed one since I don't want to bring the big Argana Argan Oil bottle when I go travel. Two- to compare. Josie Maran is indeed a well-known and popular brand so I'd want to compare it to argan oils from other brands.

If you don't know this already, Josie Maran was a model who stumbled across the secret of Argan Oil and it's ability to help to slow down the signs of ageing. She launched her own cosmetic line in 2007 and to date, it's a very popular brand that offers pure and first cold pressed of argan oil. Josie stated that she uses argan oil to moisturise her face, body, nails, hair, to treat her wrinkles, acne, chapped lips, inflammation and irritation, sunburn and also act as a base under makeup.

The 30ml travel size retails at RM62.00 and from my experience, it can last up to 4 months on near daily use. I don't really find it expensive because there is this popular local brand of argan oil called Mora Essential retails at RM60.00. One thing to note that Josie Maran's version is PURE oil. I mean, ofc you can find cheaper brands of argan oil out there but they could be loaded with other ingredients, so beware of that and always check what else they might contain.

Now, I've already told you guys before that Argana Argan Oil is almost equivalent to the lighter version of Josie Maran Argan Oil as both of them are giving the same nutty scent and feel lightweight on swatch. The lighter version contains argan isostearylic ester rather than argan kernel oil, as found in the original but trust me, doesn't matter which version of argan oils, they both do absorb quickly without leaving a greasy film on the skin surface. The original, however, is going to make your skin looking extra shining. I'd suggest not using it if you want your makeup to look completely matte but other than that, argan oil is actually a very good moisturiser and can act as a base before doing makeup.

I'm not sure what else should I say since I've already raved A LOT about argan oil in my previous post but I honestly do LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE it as my daily face moisturiser. Again, it absorbs quickly and doesn't make me look or feel greasy, but if you feel like the pure argan oil is too heavy, I would highly recommend trying the lighter version. Both of the oils does have different scent tho! Right now I'm on my 10th months of using argan oil and I can say that the overall texture of my skin has changed. I rarely wake up with an oily mess over my forehead and nose area, and when my face is less oily, I encounter fewer breakouts.

Definitely giving two thumbs up for this product, hence a 5/5 rating!. Don't need to buy the full size as the travel size is enough for you to survive for months. Lagipun aku rasa full size mahal sangat. I would totally recommend you to try Josie Maran Pure Argan Oil if you have oily skin (or you know...basically any type of skin) or been wanting to switch your conventional moisturiser to something more natural and organic. Argan oil is, without a doubt my greatest skincare discovery of 2015.

Unfortunately no, not yet. I wish they had a Sephora in my city so I'm able to swatch everything at there, haha. I remember seeing Allison Anderson on youtube wearing Josie Maran's "Playa del Pink" in one of her makeup tutorial, the shade is beautiful!
