Fun Find | Sigma Spa Brush Cleaning Glove Dupe/Alternative #1

By now, you've probably heard of the Sigma Spa Brush Cleaning Glove made from silicone. It retails at $35 on Sigma website and RM112.00 on Luxola. I haven't tried the Sigma and I would never want to pay such amount of money for it. Through a fellow beauty lover on Instagram, I found an affordable alternative to the textured silicone glove for RM5.00.

So, I went to my nearest Daiso store in town and spotted this silicon pot pad/mat hanging in the kitchen section. I was tempted enough to get one because all this time I was using hands to clean up my brushes and ended up getting dry patches.

It's a multi-colour silicone pad, no rubbery or funny smell. As soon I came home, I washed this with soapy warm water to clean the pad before using it. I've since tested this out and I have to say it's surprisingly good! While using my usual brush cleaning routine - antibacterial dish soap / hand wash (sometimes I mix it with olive oil), this silicone pad did a trick of getting my brushes thoroughly clean. It helped to build up lathers easily with little effort. Also, time saving! My brushes were so much faster to clean with this Daiso Pad.

Here I used my Real Techniques Contour Brush for a demo.
Just wet the silicone pad, dampen the brush, use a little amount of preferred brush cleanser, and swirl the brush a couple of times on the pad. Rinse with water and sweep it again to remove excess soap. Finish it with another rinse. Push out excess water gently using fingers. Then, pat the brush on a clean, dry towel and let it dry. I usually leave it overnight.

I do not own a Sigma Spa Glove so I cannot give you a complete side by side review of them but I still think that silicone pad like this, or any oven silicone glove available in the market works just fine. The raised/bumpy textures provide friction against the bristle so it helps in depth cleaning. However, it seems to be a bit large for smaller brushes, I personally prefer fine, smaller textures which I think it's the only disadvantage of this Daiso Silicone Pot (although it still works just fine).
Fret not!! I stumbled upon another tool which is much cheaper and suitable for smaller brushes! That will be featured in my part #2

So what do you say? Do you think the Sigma Spa Glove is worth the price? Have you tried it? ;)

Thank You! :D :D Ha, I couldn't afford buying makeup tools that would cost me almost $40. Hehe. While this is only $2! Such a steal! <3

Love this trick, I've been using those kinda gloves you can wear to do dishes but they don't last nearly as long as this :) I still need to find something like this, they don't seem to sell this everywhere!

Under warm, running water, sweep your brush back and forth against the RINSE texture until the water runs clear. Again, use the Face texture for larger brushes and the Eye texture for smaller brushes. Note: The brush fibers should make a cute squeaking sound against the textures once it's clean! https://cleanerprofy.com/roomba-brush-not-spinning/
